Split, multi-split or ducted: how to choose
Start with how you use your home, before choosing a brand or a power rating.

Map the rooms you use
Note which rooms are used during the day and at night, and which doors usually stay closed. A simple annotated plan explains your needs better than a power rating chosen without a site assessment.
- Which rooms need cooling at the same time?
- Which visible indoor units would suit your interior?
- Is a renovation or suspended ceiling already planned?
Compare installation requirements
A split pairs one indoor and one outdoor unit. A multi-split connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit. Ducted systems distribute air through ducts, so space and maintenance access need checking.
Ask for comparable proposals
Request equipment references, rooms covered, drilling, connections, drainage and finishes. Separate included work from anything that might remain your responsibility.
- Who confirms the outdoor location and any necessary permissions?
- Does the quote include removal of existing equipment?
- What could still change the price after the visit?
Use the estimate as a starting point
The NOMACOOL calculation uses floor area and bedrooms to provide a budget range. It is not a heat-load calculation or a substitute for checking the property. Select multi-split or ducted if appropriate, then prepare these questions for the visit.
What systems we install
We mainly install wall-mounted split units and multi-split configurations. In many Valencia apartments, a split in the living room plus one in the main bedroom is the most balanced solution: comfort, simplicity and controlled budget.
For homes with several rooms or different needs (home office, kids, south-facing bedrooms), multi-split lets you cool multiple zones with one outdoor unit. We recommend high-efficiency inverter solutions and realistic sizing: oversizing can cause short cycling and waste; undersizing struggles on peak heat days.
- Wall-mounted split (living room, bedroom, office)
- Multi-split (2–5 rooms)
- High-efficiency inverter systems (better consumption)
- Holiday rental / second home setups
- Placement advice and clean finishing
How we size and plan the project
Sizing should not be guesswork. In Valencia’s Mediterranean climate, orientation (direct sun), insulation, ceiling height and window quality make a big difference. An open-plan living room needs more margin than an interior bedroom.
Our goal is fast cooling without unnecessary consumption, then stable temperature. The online estimator gives a quick range. If the property has constraints (façade rules, inner patio, long runs, condensate pumps), a technical visit validates routing, placement and the final installation approach.
- Surface area (m²) and layout
- Orientation and sun exposure
- Insulation and windows
- Real usage (hours, occupancy)
- Pipe routing and condensate drainage
Air conditioning & ventilation: complete guide (Spain)
In Spain, well-designed AC genuinely improves daily life: summer comfort, sleep, remote work, kids, rentals. The real lever is matching your home (area, exposure, insulation) and your usage.
Then we validate what truly changes outcomes: unit placement, airflow quality, condensate drainage, line length, electrical supply and neighbour-side noise.
